Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing is a service enabling geographically distant users to exchange video and audio information in real time, to see and to hear each other, as well as to transfer other useful data.
Videoconferencing from Datagroup means:
- Operative holding of meetings, discussions, assessments, and consultations
- Reduction of costs connected with business trips of employees
- Collection and operative processing of information in remote access mode
- Staff distance learning
Videoconferences are essential assistants in operation of multi-branch firms and primarily solve the tasks of management coordination and effective solution of current business tasks requiring personal participation of employees.
Year by year, videoconferencing services become easier in use and more functional in content. A lot of directions have emerged that come into use in medicine, education, offices of large and medium-size companies.
Datagroup offers various videoconferencing solutions that differ in purpose and tasks performed, i.e. there are both solutions for simple exchange of video and audio messages and solutions enabling to combine distant units of a company into a single virtual office with online exchange of video and audio, video document management, text messages, and tools for management of large corporate meetings.
Solutions for iSEE Video and Audio Chat
This solution is cost effective, reliable and easy in use. In companies, it is used by employees for whom it is important to have a video telephony tool on their portative computer and to be able to communicate with people they need using Internet connection.
This solution is comparable with popular products designed by Yahoo and Microsoft, such as MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, but Datagroup offers much more, namely a possibility to see all videoconference participants at the same time, as if sitting at a conference table.
Moreover, a customer has in its disposal an own video server enabling it to hold video meetings both in intranet (inside of corporate network, without Internet access) and extranet — via Internet in any part of the world, being on business trip or vacation.
One of the main benefits of the solution is that an iSEE videoconference may work by IP addresses of multicast broadcasting, which significantly saves data transfer bandwidth of a corporate network.
iSEE solution by Midas also enables videoconferencing via satellite channels of low capacity (from 16 Kbps to 256 Kbps for each spot). The main components of the system are the following:
- Managing server with software based on Linux operating system
- Workstations with client software
- Video output devices, such as web-cameras or professional videoconferencing cameras operating by means of PCI video capture devices
- For delivery of video, workstation monitors are used, for delivery of audio data — Workstation audio systems
Professional System of Video and Document Selective Communication
This solution by DiViSy (Moscow, Russia) enables a customer to rise its communication with regional representative offices or branches to a new level. DiViSy Group has a wealth of experience in professional DiViSy videoconferencing for various applications in business, industry, science, communication, medicine, education, etc.
An administrator of any company will be able to easy set up the flexible videoconference system that makes video, voice and document exchange to fit the required round-table meeting setting as much as possible.
The solution based on DiViSy software provides a lot of options making it possible to optimize the network bandwidth to each of subscribers, which allows maximum optimization quality of image and voice.
VD21 complex by DiViSy is most demanded amongst Datagroup customers, and it also enables to arrange selective video meetings via satellite channels (from 128 Kbps to 2 Mbps recommended).
The DiViSy VD21 system includes the following products:
- DiViSy VD21VS — a server kit for videoconferencing and selective video meetings. The server kit consists of three modules:
- Media Router Module, through which all necessary calls of participants are done, and which regulates and optimizes data flows in multicast and unicast modes at the time of videoconferences or selective video meetings;
- Media Billing Router, which performs recording of participants of a videoconference or selective video meeting, recording and creation of groups of participants, as well as recording of main parameters of holding videoconferences or selective video meetings, and the data from this module can be transferred to various balling systems for billing purposes;
- Media Converter Module, which converts data transfer rates according to actual channel bandwidth for each participant of a videoconference or a selective video meeting.
- DiViSy VD21CL — terminal of a participant of a videoconference or a selective video meeting. This terminal is also installed at the master (or masters, if more than one) of the videoconference or the selective video meeting
- DiViSy VD21TO — terminal for multiwindow display of participants. This terminal is required for master(s) of a videoconference or a selective video meeting
- DiViSy VD21AD — administrator’s terminal enabling management of a videoconference or a selective video meeting: participant calls, grouping, granting or forfeiture of a right to speak, etc.
- DiViSy VD21VR — backup terminal. With this terminal, progress of a videoconference or a selective video meeting is logged.
In April 2007, Datagroup made an agreement with DiViSy Group under which the company will sell DiViSy solutions in Ukraine and provide support and advice to current and future consumers of such products. For more information on DiViSy products please refer to the web site of the company.
Solutions Based on Tandberg Videoconferencing Equipment
In solutions based on Tandberg equipment, the following special components are used:
- Videoconferencing management server
- Equipment management and setup server
- Special terminal equipment — devices, including camera, audio speakers, and monitor.
Each unit is connected at speed of 128 Kbps up to 512 Kbps. The headquarters requires a channel of 2 Mbps, or more.
The following channel-forming and network equipment in customer units is recommended: for headquarters — router, LAN switch, and terrestrial channel only; for branches — satellite modem/router DirecWay 7000, or, in case of terrestrial connection, router, LAN switch.
