Satellite Network
Since February 2006, Datagroup has been operating two satellite communications complexes DirecWay HUB by Hughes Network System, the first of which was installed in 2002. Each HUB consists of many functional elements, and mandatory reservation is provided.
The second HUB was installed in order to increase the total production capacity of the Datagroup satellite network, to which currently already over 5,000 client terminals are connected. The HUB complexes operate via different satellites: Eutelsat-W2 (16° East) and AB1 (Euro Bird 1). The Eutelsat-W2 satellite will allow us to extend the service area due to the broader coverage map, as well as to use 0.8 to 1.0 m antennas. Using DirecWay HUB systems allows us to provide high-quality, effective, protected, interactive communication channels with tens of thousands of remote terminals. Remote terminals provide two-way satellite communication.
Offered satellite communication systems ensure the following:
- Prompt, if compared to terrestrial networks, putting into operation of all terminals, regardless of location
- Availability of connection for all points within the coverage area of the satellite
- 24 hours’ continuous service
- Broadband connection services and capabilities of efficient delivery of broadcast and multicast messages.
On the basis of DirecWay HUB, main types of transferred data (i.e. data, voice, and video) have been tested and work consistently.
DirecWay HUB system has a star topology. For arrangement of a direct broadband channel in the DirecWay HUB system a DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) compatible carrier is used, which is emitted by the Network Operations Center (NOC), as well as many reverse channels based on the Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), for providing access of almost unlimited number of peripheral terminals to corporate intranets.
DirecWay Components and Services
Currently, Datagroup provides to its customers four types of HNS terminals:
- DW7700 — 2 Ethernet ports
- DW7740 — 2 Ethernet ports, 2 FXS voice ports
- DW6040 — 1 Ethernet port, 4 FXS voice ports
- DW6000 — 1 Ethernet port
DW7000 series terminals are capable to work on inquiry/response channel rates within 1 Mbps / 48 Mbps.DW6000 series terminals — 256 Kbps / 48 Mbps.
DW6040 Voice Appliance
DW6040 Voice Appliance (or VAP) is intended specifically for provision of high-quality phone connections via DirecWay system. The VAP has four ports for connection of a phone or fax via the FXS pair. Speech encoding at the rate of 8 Kbps with G.729 codec is used. The appliance also supports fax delivery at the rate of 9.6 Kbps.
